This certificate is designed for professionals who are responsible for occupational health and safety regulatory compliance and standards. The Maritime Industry Safety & Health Fundamentals Certificate program supports public and private sector employees in occupational safety and health to reduce incident rates for workers. Using the OSHA Maritime Standards as a guide, special emphasis is placed on those areas in the maritime industry, which are most hazardous. Participants can choose from a variety of topics such as occupational safety and health standards, safety and health management, incident investigation, fall hazard awareness, and recordkeeping. Upon completion participants will have the ability to identify and apply OSHA standards, policies, and procedures for general industry. Participants attend a 4-day intensive and select from relevant electives. Minimum 68 contact hours; 6.8 CEUs; 3 required courses and 4 elective courses.
