NAOEM 2016 Annual Scientific and Clinical Education Conference
This conference is presented by the Northwest Association of Occupational and Environmental Medicine in collaboration with the University of Washington Northwest Center for Occupational Health and Safety.

Conference content is designed to provide occupational and environmental health professionals review and updates of current topics in occupational and environmental medicine. Conference content is also relevant to primary care providers and others who assess and/or treat patients with conditions common to the field of occupational and environmental medicine, including physicians (family physicians, general practitioners, internists), nurse practitioners and other nursing professionals, as well as physician assistants.

Learning Objectives:
After attending this conference, participants will be able to:
Describe different non-opioid options for pain management.
Make informed appropriate referrals for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and/or Mindfulness Training when indicated for chronic pain patients.
Use their knowledge of the incidence of asymptomatic meniscal disease in the general population to help guide clinical decision making.
Describe the One Health approach.
Recognize the diagnostic criteria for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome and how to make the diagnosis early in its course in order to make appropriate early interventions.
Identify basic tools to treat common sleep problems.
Evaluate the low back pain patient and recognize signs and symptoms that warrant heightened and accelerated scrutiny and action.
Identify 2 bedside assessment tools useful for cognitive screening, including executive function, after Traumatic Brain Injury.
