Class description

Occupational and environmental health exposures cause thousands of illnesses and injuries each year. This lecture series addresses the evaluation, treatment, and prevention of disease and injuries related to environmental and occupational exposures encountered by physicians and their colleagues in local, regional, and international settings.

Speakers address important topics including training and development of future OEM practitioners, current OEM workforce landscape, and federal and state policy changes. This session explores the challenges and opportunities that will define the next generation of OEM and the influence of social and technological shifts on worker health and OEM practice.

PRESENTERS:

Dr Judith McKenzieJudith Green McKenzie, MD, MPH - Professor, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Judith Green McKenzie is a nationally recognized leader in Occupational and Environmental Medicine (OEM). She previously served as the inaugural OEM Division Chief and Residency Director for more than two decades. 

 

Dr. Christopher MartinChristopher Martin, MD, MSc - Founding Director, Global Engagement, West Virginia University Health Sciences Center; Program Director of the WVU Occupational Medicine Residency Program. Dr. Martin’s extensive national service includes roles with NBME, ACGME, and the American Board of Preventive Medicine, along with consulting for NIOSH and multiple workers’ compensation systems.

 

Dr. Romero SantiagoRomero Santiago, MD, MPH - Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine, Carle Illinois College of Medicine; Attending Physician, OEM Employee Health, Carle Health. Based at Carle Health in Illinois, he practices in OEM and Employee Health and teaches as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Carle Illinois College of Medicine. Dr. Santiago brings a transdisciplinary approach that integrates occupational health, primary care, lifestyle medicine, and climate related health risks.
