Class description

This course covers OSHA Standards, policies, and procedures in general industry.  Topics include scope and application of the OSHA General Industry Standards, general industry principles and special emphasis on those areas in general industry which are most hazardous. Upon course completion students will have the ability to define general industry terms found in the OSHA General Industry Standards, identify hazards which occur in general industry, locate and determine appropriate OSHA General Industry Standards, policies, and procedures, and describe the use of OSHA General Industry Standards and regulations to supplement an ongoing safety and health program.  

Prerequisite for OSHA #501 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry.

You will need to show the instructor a government issued photo ID containing your legal name. Please bring a laptop with you if possible, as some course components are more easily completed electronically.

CFR 1910 General Industry Regulations in both print and digital format, and printed handouts and activities relevant to OSHA general industry standards.

Directions & info

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:
FROM Interstate 5 Northbound/Southbound:
Exit at NE 45th Street. Turn East onto NE 45th Street toward the University of Washington campus. Proceed approximately two blocks until you reach Roosevelt Way NE. Turn right onto Roosevelt Way NE (one way heading south) and travel to the Roosevelt Building, 4225 Roosevelt Way NE. The Roosevelt Building is located on the west side of the road, immediately south of the UW Medical Center Roosevelt Clinic, and across the street from the University Inn.   

FROM Interstate 90 or Highway 520 Westbound:
Take the Interstate 5 North Exit, and proceed north to the NE 45th Street exit.  See directions above.

Parking:
Pay lot parking is available in the Sound parking garage located immediately south of the Roosevelt Building entrance.

Accommodations:
There are several hotels within walking distance of the Roosevelt Building that offer discount rates to guests of the University of Washington. Please mention you are a guest at booking to see if the discount rate is available.
