OSHA Courses

This three-day course will cover the general safety and health requirements in 29 CFR 1910 from the standpoint of supervising, training, administering, and organizing safety and health programs. It will also include regulatory requirements and specific applications for written program requirements, documentation, discipline, hazard evaluation, and control and compliance.

Students who successfully complete this course will be authorized to conduct 10- and 30-hour Construction Outreach classes. This is a trainer course so enrollees will give a presentation on an assigned OSHA Construction Outreach Training Program topic and must successfully pass a written exam at the end of the course.

Prerequisites: Five years of construction safety and health work experience and successful completion of the OSHA #510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry course within the past 7 years.

This is a trainer course so enrollees will give a presentation on an assigned OSHA General Industry Outreach Training Program topic and must successfully pass a written exam at the end of the course.

This course is for OSHA Outreach Training Program construction industry trainers who have completed OSHA #500 and whose trainer authorization has not expired before the first day of class. Provides an update on OSHA construction standards, policies, and regulations. Trainers are required to attend this course (or OSHA #500) once every four years to maintain their authorized trainer status.

This course is for OSHA Outreach Training Program general industry trainers who have completed OSHA #501 and whose trainer authorization has not expired before the first day of class. Provides an update on OSHA general industry standards, policies, and regulations. Trainers are required to attend this course (or OSHA #501) once every four years to maintain their authorized trainer status.

Permissible exposure limits, OSHA health standards, regulations and procedures, respiratory protection, engineering controls, hazard communication, sampling instrumentation, workplace health program elements, and other industrial hygiene topics. Workshops in health hazard recognition, OSHA health standards, and safety and health programs.

This course covers the various types of common machinery, machine safe guards, and related OSHA regulations. Topics include machinery processes, control of hazardous energy sources (lockout/tagout), and guarding of portable powered tools.

This course covers the requirements for the establishment, maintenance, and monitoring of a respirator program. Topics include OSHA and ANSI standards, NIOSH certifications, and medical evaluation recommendations. Course includes a discussion of both quantitative and qualitative respirator fit testing.

Introduces the application of ergonomic principles to prevent musculoskeletal disorders. Topics include: work physiology; anthropometry; video display terminals; and risk factors, such as vibration, temperature, manual handling, repetition, and continuous keyboard use. Industrial case studies cover analysis and design of work stations and equipment; laboratory sessions focus on manual lifting and OSHA's proposed ergonomic protection standard.

This course covers the recognition of confined space hazards, use of instrumentation to evaluate atmospheric hazards, ventilation techniques, and confined space program elements. The requirements for a permit, non-permit and alternate procedures confined space are also covered. Specific duties of entrants, attendants, supervisors and rescue are discussed.

Focus on OSHA standards and on the safety aspects of excavation and trenching. Introduction to practical soil mechanics and its relationship to the stability of shored and unshored slopes and walls of excavation.

Students learn about the production of electricity and how it is delivered to the end user as well as the hazards associated with high and low voltage current. Basic definitions and explanation of electric generation provides the required skills needed to understand electrical systems.

This course provides an overview of state-of-the-art technology for fall protection. Topics covered include the principles of fall protection, the components of fall arrest systems, the limitations of fall arrest equipment, and OSHA policies regarding fall protection.

For individuals who have completed OSHA #5400 and who are active trainers in the Maritime Industry Outreach program. Required every four years to maintain an active trainer status. This course provides an update on new adult learning principles and interactive training techniques to clearly identify, define and explain maritime industry hazards and acceptable corrective measures in accordance with the 29 CFR 1915, 1917, 1918 and 1919 OSHA Maritime Standards as they continue to teach 10- and 30-hour courses.

OSHA standards, policies, and procedures for the maritime industry are the focus of this course. Students will learn about the OSHA Maritime Standards, identify hazards in the maritime industry, determine appropriate hazard controls and abatement, and describe the use of the OSHA Maritime Standards and regulations to supplement an ongoing safety and health program.

This course will provide participants with information about and hands-on experience with the process for transitioning to safer chemicals, as well as the key methods, tools, and databases that can assist in this process.

This course covers the requirements of the OSHA Permit-Required Confined Space Standard. Course topics include safety and health hazards associated with confined space entry, and the evaluation, prevention, and abatement of these hazards.

This course focuses on describing noise hazards in the workplace. Upon completion, students will have the ability to describe sound properties and their relationship to noise-induced hearing loss, hearing protection usage, and using a sound level meter.

Using interactive assignments and thought-provoking group projects, students of this one day workshop come away with a strong understanding of the benefits in implementing a safety and health management system in the workplace.

This course is an introduction to basic incident investigation procedures and describes analysis techniques. Course topics include incident investigation methods, employer responsibilities related to workplace incident investigations, and a four-step incident investigation procedure.

This 4-hour course is designated to assist employers in identifying and fulfilling their responsibilities for posting certain records, maintaining records of illness and injuries, and reporting specific cases to OSHA. Several practice sessions are included.
