If you are an Occupational Health and Safety professional, or a professional intersecting with health, safety, and well-being, this is the course for you!
Total Worker Health® goes beyond traditional safety programs. It integrates workplace safety, health, and well-being to protect workers from hazards and support how they feel, function, and perform at work. When organizations design work that supports both physical safety and mental health, injuries decline, engagement increases, and people go home healthier at the end of the day.
Audiences for this course include human resources, risk management, wellness, and disability management specialists, health and safety professionals, and industrial hygienists. No prior knowledge of Total Worker Health® is required.
Register for this certificate to gain an understanding of the approach, and competency to begin to implement its concepts within organizations.

Instructor Highlight: Justin Molocznik
|
Justin Molocznik, M.S., CSP, CHST, CRIS, is director of safety, health and environment for JTM Construction in Seattle, WA. He holds an M.S. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Kansas State University. Molocznik serves as the ASSP Region I Vice President and on the Washington State Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board. Justin's own words on occupational health and safety:

Occupational health and safety is unique in that it can be highly technical and task-specific, while also encompassing the bigger picture of worker well-being and Total Worker Health. That balance drives me as an educator—I may be focused on ensuring full understanding of the content, while staying mindful that each student’s “why” is different. In recognizing this, I can tailor my communication, expectations, and approach to better support their journey and make the learning both meaningful and practical.

OEM Grand Rounds: Occupational Foot & Ankle Injuries - A Guide to Diagnosis, Imaging, Treatment, and When to Ask for Help

In this lecture, Dr. Kadel, a foot and ankle specialist orthopedic surgeon, will discuss some common workplace foot and ankle injuries. The clinician will be given guidance to help make a correct diagnosis and recommendations for ordering appropriate imaging studies. Options for treatment plans will also be discussed for these common injuries. Most importantly, the clinician will learn when it is recommended to refer some of these injuries on for specialty care.

Total Worker Health®: Advancing Well-Being in the Workplace

Total Worker Health is a comprehensive, research-to-practice approach that supports well-integrated policies, programs, and practices to protect workers from different work-related safety and health hazards and promote worker well-being. This course is designed to equip working professionals to apply the Total Worker Health approach in their own organization and to communicate with various stakeholders about its value. It focuses on evidence-informed solutions rooted in safety science, occupational health psychology, and human and organizational performance goals.

Interested in promoting continuous improvement in safety at your workplace? Registration is now open for the FREE Melvin E. James Honorary Lectures on Safety and Health 2026. The name Mel James is synonymous with safety at L&I. In 1982, OSHA began the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), and in the mid-1990s, after much work and dedication, Mel brought VPP to Washington State. Mel passed away on May 3, 2015. In his honor, we established the Melvin E. James Honorary Lectures on Safety.
